Whenever we are thinking about joining an MLM company one of the first things we need to look for is a good company.  A company that provides a product that will actually offer some sincere value to people’s lives.  For me that rules out a lot of companies!  But the 2nd thing we need to carefully consider is who should be our sponsor?

To a large degree our success will be determined by the coaching that you get from your sponsor, particularly if you are new to the business.  From the horrific stories that I have heard over the last few months it seems that there are a lot of so called mlm coaches that are not delivering the goods.  I have heard of people being completely ditched by their upline soon after joining up or being extremely difficult to contact and unwilling to spend time coaching their new recruits.  This ‘take the money and run’ mentality is one of the reasons why there is still some stigma attached to the MLM industry.

Have you experienced a hideaway sponsor before?

If so then I really do feel for you.  In my very first MLM company I experienced that same thing.  It got to a point where it was actually difficult for me to get my commission cheques out of my upline!  At that point I was not a ‘direct distributor’ therefore was only at 25% override on product sales and my payments had to go through my upline.  Countless telephone calls chasing my money actually ended up with me going round my sponsor’s house!  They did pay up there and then

So what should we look for in an MLM coach and sponsor?

You want to look for someone who is already having success in their business otherwise it’s a case of the blind leading the blind, you want someone who holds high personal values and is determined (this will be evident in how they present themselves on the telephone, in person and on company presentations).  You ideally want to find someone who has a larger and more powerful vision than you do, if you spend enough time observing them you too will soon pick up that vision for yourself.  If a sponsor has a powerful vision they will be leading by example, they will also have a powerful recruiting system that you can duplicate and implement into your own business.

It goes without saying that you want a sponsor that is contactable, this is especially important for any online venture as some people tend to hide away behind their computer.  I don’t care what anyone says, in MLM this does not work, you must still be prepared to pick up the telephone!  Test out your proposed sponsor before signing up, get them on the phone, see how helpful they are, but don’t waste their time with silly questions, they should be too busy for that.  Be sure to ask them specifically what training and coaching they will give you AFTER you have signed up.

The best sponsors I have found are the ones that offer the greatest value.  Before you even sign up them you will feel like an expert from all the knowledge that they have passed on to you via free training materials.  These are the sponsors that actually care about your individual success over and above the money you put in their pocket.  There are some people in this world who just love to help others and see the fruits of their teaching.  There is no greater feeling for me than passing on knowledge and information to others that will enable them to change their life for the better.  It’s like a universal flow of energy that passes through you, as you help others get what they want you get more of what you want (Zig Zigler says the same thing and it’s very true)

A good MLM coach will offer you regular training and they will also teach you how to be a great sponsor to your team.

Oh my! You have been searching around for the term, ‘cheap mlm leads’? or something like it? Does that mean that you are considering actually paying for your mlm leads and are looking for a good deal?? I myself have never paid for MLM leads and never would but I do know some of my fellow marketers have paid for leads before at cheap and expensive prices. Most of them regret the day that the idea ever popped into their head and have ended up wasting hours on the phone making calls to so called ‘warm’ leads. They are often obtained from research companies that send out generic questionnaires to households across the country, you may have received one yourself. They are very general in nature and rarely produce qualified leads. These companies then make an educated guess on what these people might be interested in and then go on to sell them as ‘targeted’ leads.

Another major problem with trying to recruit ‘paid for’ leads is that when you call them the common response is ‘who the hell are you?’ or words to that effect. Most of these people have either completed a generic questionnaire or a business opportunity online opt in form. There has been no relationship formed between you and them so why should they trust or even listen to what you have to say? The whole point of prospecting (if you’re doing it right) is to build a relationship and trust with your prospect, this is done by offering massive value and providing the solutions that they are looking for and by general interaction.

In my opinion (and many other network marketers) buying MLM leads is a waste of your money and then it’s a waste of your time to follow up with them. You are FAR better off generating your own targeted leads and the internet is one great place to do this. If you learn the proper strategies and are willing to put in some work you can be generating your own leads every day into your business. These will be YOUR leads, people that have come to you and are ready and open to receive your communications.

The great thing is that you don’t even have to spend much money to put this into action, starting this week.

Every Network Marketing business needs leads right?  Without a constant flow of leads your business is dead.  Period.  I am going to show you a free way to generate a daily stream of leads to your website for free.  Well actually it’s not completely free, nothing ever is right?  You will need to invest brain power and some time, if you willing to invest this to blast your business through the roof then this is what you need to do.

How can I get free traffic?

This will only really work if you have a blog or website, so the first step is to set one up if you don’t have one.  The next thing you need to understand is that search engines love fresh unique content and they will give more attention to sites that are updated regularly.  Secondly your webpage’s need to optimized for the search engines, in its basic form this means that your keyword/phrase should be in the title, meta description and a few times in the actual page content.   Don’t overdo it otherwise you will get penalised for keyword stuffing, also when you write your content write it for your reader.  There is nothing more annoying than an article that keeps mentioning the same key phrase over and over again, the Google robots will find it annoying too and your webpage will drop in the rankings like a lead balloon!

Thirdly we want to be clear that having quality backlinks pointing to your webpage’s are going to boost up your ranking positions in the search results for your chosen keywords/phrases, watch my video on how to improve search engine rankings & backlinks to learn more about backlinking.

Ok so what we want to do here is 2 fold, we want to get our webpage’s ranked highly in the search engines so that we can get targeted traffic and secondly we want to have our content in as many places as possible to get traffic from sources such as article directories, video sites and social networks.

Here are the steps in brief…

1) Create a piece of content; this can be something like your reading right now.  An article or blog post, make sure that it is offering great value to your readers!  keep it fairly short and concise and make sure that what you promise in the article title you actually deliver.  Needless to say the article must be relevant to the keyword/phrase that you are targeting, you want your content to be informative and compelling because when this article reaches the main directories you want readers to click through to your links.

2) Put that original piece of content onto your blog or website and then bookmark it to the major social networks and bookmarking sites, this can be done with a few clicks using this cool little tool called OnlyWire

3) Create a video about the article you have just written, this can be either you sitting in front of the camera talking about the subject of your article or a PowerPoint presentation or even just a simple screen capture (I like to use a combination of all three).  The key here is to promote your piece of content that you have just written, you want to leave viewers in suspense so that after they have watched your video they will want to click through to your website to find out more information.  You then need to upload it to all the main video and podcast sites.  You can either do this manually (it will take you about a week) or you can use TubeMogul (they don’t accept MLM related videos and don’t have many video sites on their system) or you can use Traffic Geyser, the ultimate video marketing tool, check them out here and you will see what I mean.  Video is the fastest way to get into Google’s search results, you can see some proof of its effectiveness by watching my keyword research video.

4) You need to take your original article and spin it and then submit it to as many article directories as possible.  If you were to do this manually then it would take you several weeks per article.  I use a cool little tool called Automatic Article Submitter to do all of this for me and it even creates and confirms all my author accounts!  Click the link for more information and also to get a discount on the purchase price.

5) Spread the word about your new blog post/article to your social networks like Twitter (gently does it, don’t spam!)

In a nutshell that’s it.  You need to do this consistently.  For the next 100 days take one piece of content and promote it, over a few weeks you will see your traffic begin to grow on a daily basis as your rankings increase in the search engines and as more people read your content which is now syndicated all over the place.

For anyone that has been involved with the MLM industry for any length of time you will know how much of an arduous struggle it can be. It’s a fact that 95% of the people who get involved with this industry usually end up spending more than they make! This is what happened to me in my early days. I first got involved with a health & vitamin company about 7 years ago and whilst I did make some money from selling the products on the internet I was never able to recruit a strong downline. Are You an ‘Opportunity Hopper’?

Many folks in this industry are ‘opportunity hoppers’ they hop from one opportunity to the next hoping that the next one they join will make their dreams come true. Whilst being at the point of quitting and succumbing to the fact that I would be stuck in a JOB (Just Over Broke) for the rest of my life I had the bright idea of building my business on the internet. It made sense as instantly I have a database of potentially millions of leads, but like many people who turn to the internet I was still banging my head against a brick wall as I didn’t know how to market online.

I’ve spent a large amount of money on various training courses and materials to learn internet marketing and I can tell you that it DOES work, provided you are willing to put in the manual labour necessary to get your business to take off. Are there any advantages to building your mlm business online?  Is it true when some ‘gurus’ say that offline & traditional mlm marketing is dead & buried?  Personally I think not, but if you are not utilising the internet to build your business then as I have found from personal experience you are leaving a lot of money on the table unclaimed.  In this post I cover briefly some thoughts on how you can effectively market your business online.

I know there are a lot of people out there searching for mlm success secrets so I wanted to offer some tips today about building an mlm organization online.  It’s a little different than the traditional offline marketing methods; I personally believe that it has some distinct advantages over offline marketing but should by no means replace offline networking.  MLM is after all about building relationships with people and that cannot be done solely online.  You still need to be willing to pick up the phone and meet people face to face where possible.

Building our business online offers us two distinct advantages, firstly that we are able to contact so many more people than most of us could offline.  Let’s face it, most of us starting out in mlm do not have a vast network of offline business contacts or indeed any significant ‘lead list’ so we are unable to hit the road running.  Secondly the internet offers some VERY powerful leverage, we can automate a large percentage of our workload such as lead generation and following up with prospects by using email marketing.  The internet really is a god send when it comes to prospecting, but once again it cannot totally replace the good old telephone, it just means we don’t have to make those ‘cold’ calls anymore

So if you’re building an mlm business online what are the fundamentals we need to consider?

1) We need to have systems in place, by this I mean we need at least one website.  It is virtually impossible to make money online if you don’t have your own website.  You will need an ‘opt-in’ page where potential prospects can give you their contact details in exchange for something of value.  You might consider offering an e-book or maybe a training course of some description to entice your visitor to opt in.  Just make sure that it’s something of value and not garbage.  You will also need an autoresponder, this will send out emails for you on auto pilot.  You write the messages once and tell the system when to send them out and you’re done!

2) You need to learn how to drive traffic to your website.  Without consistent traffic any internet business is dead in the water.  With regular visitors and a compelling offer you will for sure be getting leads all day long which is fantastic for your business and means you will soon be earning money from affiliate commissions and ultimately new recruits into your business.

3) You need to have in place an efficient sales funnel which will take your prospects through a scientific sales process, in this process they will continue to be offered value and training information for free.  They will also at predefined times be offered products that have a low cost, when they buy of course you will then be making some nice commissions which you can use to fund your marketing expenses.  During their transition through your sales funnel you will be building a relationship and trust with these people with your regular contact and by offering value.  Of course the ultimate aim is then to gradually increase your prospects exposure to your primary mlm opportunity.  Done correctly this is a very effective method of recruitment and one that will build a base of customers that you can sell to over and over again.  Ever heard the saying ‘the money is in the list’?  It’s true

Hey, good question! If everyone knew the MLM Secrets there would be less depressed people going about their corporate jobs and living just for the weekend. I’m going to be blunt with you, if you are in MLM you are probably not making much money (95% fail) you may even be making none at all! Chances are that you are frustrated and just thinking of packing it all in and accepting the fact you will never be one of those rich guys who works about 3 hours a day and swans off on expensive holidays every month and drives the fancy sports cars.

Learn how to use the social networking sites to generate leads every day, don’t pitch your business opportunity up front, YES you heard right! Learn about using YouTube to market yourself, write some articles and post them to article directories, use the social bookmarking sites to get your content noticed! Also you simply MUST have your own blog if you are serious about being a success online, only the leaders will have gone to the bother of setting up their own blog. Will you be a leader?

These are just some ideas to get you started, but the truth is that there is no reason for you to be broke in your business any longer! Leverage the power of the internet, do your research and take action!
